Service to Seniors Awards Program Accepting Nominations

Do you know a person or group making a positive impact on older Floridians? Now you can do something to recognize them!

The Florida Council on Aging (FCOA) is accepting nominations for the 2012 Quality Senior Living Awards Program. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, August 21st, at the conference. Each winner will receive an award package valued at over $400.

Annual Membership Drive

FADSA is pleased to announce the kick off of our annual membership drive. Have we got a deal for you! This year, for one price, you can have both a membership with FADSA and a membership with the National Day Services Association (NADSA). We are able to offer this tremendous opportunity through NADSA's State Association Partnership Program. Take a moment to review the membership brochure to learn about all of the benefits you will receive from this membership package which includes a subscription to the magazine "Future Age". Membership in both the state and national organizations will increase your availabilty to timely information, education and advocacy efforts affecting the Adult Day Services industry. Remember, as per the by-laws: "Dues shall be assessed at the beginning of the fiscal year of the Association, January 1. Members joining for the first time after July 1, shall pay one-half the full fee. After this, the fee each year shall be paid in full."

Dear 2012 FADSA Members,

Thank you for your commitment to being an active member of the Florida Adult Day Services Association! For those of you that are members for the first time...welcome to this outstanding organization! You will be receiving your FADSA Membership Certificate soon.

All current membership information has been forwarded to the National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA) because your 2012 FADSA membership includes an automatic membership with NADSA for 2012 as well. NADSA should be notifying you of your membership shortly, if they have not done so already. If you do not hear from NADSA within the next two weeks, please inform me immediately so that I can insure that they have accurate contact information in their database.

I encourage each and every one of you to be actively involved with FADSA over the coming year. As an all volunteer association, we rely on the commitment of our members to serve our mission. I am attaching the description of committees. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to read the attachment and identify a committee on which you would like to serve. You can email me your response and I will be sure to add you to the committee listing immediately.

Committees - Please Join One Today!

Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is composed of three members in good standing who are not serving as Board members. The Nominating Committee is appointed by the President. The Nominating Committee selects a chair from among its members. The Nominating Committee prepares all slates for election, presents to the Board a slate of candidates available to fill unexpired terms, and recommends to the Board candidates for awards.

Audit Committee
The Audit Committee is composed of three members. The President will appoint a chairman who is an Association member in good standing and is not on the current Board. The Chairman will appoint two additional members who shall, together with the Chairman, review the fiscal records of the Association and present an audit report at the Annual Meeting.

Education/Newsletter Committee
The Nominating Committee is composed of three members in good standing who are not serving as Board members. The Nominating Committee is appointed by the President. The Nominating Committee selects a chair from among its members. The Nominating Committee prepares all slates for election, presents to the Board a slate of candidates available to fill unexpired terms, and recommends to the Board candidates for awards.

Policy Committee
The Policy Committee studies existing and proposed Bylaws and policies and interprets them to the Board of Directors and Association membership. The Policy Committee monitors the applicability of the Bylaws and policies and informs the Board when the need for change is indicated. The Secretary serves as Chair of the Policy Committee.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee functions as the financial fact-finding committee and advises the Board on all matters relating to the financing of the Association’s Activities. The Treasurer serves as Chair of the Finance Committee.

Website Committee
The Website Committee updates (via website administrator) all web based information regarding the Association as well as identifies and implements enhancements to better meet the needs of Association members while promoting the mission of the Association. The President will appoint the Chair of the Website Committee.

Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee works with the Association’s lobbyist to identify potential legislative initiatives, presents to Board for approval, develops documentation regarding legislative initiatives for advocacy purposes and serves as liaison between Association’s lobbyist and general membership regarding legislative information impacting Association members. The President will appoint the Chair of the Legislative Committee.






2012 Florida Licensure Fee Increases

The Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration sent out notification on March 22, 2012 of the latest increases in licensure fees for Adult Day Care Centers, Adult Family Care Home Providers and Assisted Living Facilities.
